100 grams of Sattu contains 21% protein, 62% carbohydrate, 8% fat and 2% dietary fibres. It is easy to digest and provide cooling effect in summer season apart from energy. Since it is in dry condition, so one can store it for prolonged period.

Health Benefits

  1. Nutritional Values are preserved in the food for a longer period being in dry status. 
  2. High insoluble fibres is good for digestion and intestine. 
  3. Low in glycemic index, hence person with diabetes can also take it regularly. 
  4. Presence of good amount of iron, manganese and magnesium

  6. It clears greasy element from stomach.
  7. It helps in building muscle mass.

Possible Adulteration

Getting good quality sattu is always a challenge in the market because of price wars between various manufacturing units. Possible reasons for getting poor quality sattu are:
  • Use of low quality Bengal gram seeds to make sattu.
  • Mixing of flours of other commodities like Matar and Khesari.
  • Improper cleaning of seeds while manufacturing.
  • 100% Removal of bran from sattu

It is always good to make Sattu at home, however if you don’t have time to make it at home, do purchase from some trusted brand with FSSAI license in India. Open purchase of Sattu should not be done, however purchase discretion is there.
